G.N.E. brings together a talented group of young revolutionaries who are on a quest to address social and political issues through the medium of music. The group, established in 2008, combines poetry, spoken word, rap and music to empower, inspire, and awaken the global community. Having known the plight of working class immigrants, the group derives its inspiration from a unique frame of reference. Their faith and values instill them with the knowledge that socially conscious music can be used to address issues facing their generation today.
Over the past two years, G.N.E. has found a place in both the musical and humanitarian fields. In 2009, the group opened for hip-hop artist Immortal Technique, Punjabi singer Rabbi Shergill, released their debut mixtape, Souljas Rise, and have collaborated on numerous albums including those of; L-Fresh, Immortal Shaheedi 5 and 7, Humble the Poet, and MC G-Singh. The group is currently working on their next mixtape, which will feature popular tracks like Death of a Downturn. In addition, the group recently worked on their first award-winning film production, turBAN, which premiered at film festivals in New York and Hollywood. G.N.E.’s notable success has been featured in East West Magazine, on SikhChic and The Langar Hall.
With strong ties to the community, G.N.E. is currently finalizing plans to launch the 2010 Lahir Concert Series across North America. This unique event will bring together a community to reflect on history through the experience of musical performances.
G.N.E. is based in Maryland and brings together Tanmit Singh//SaintSoulja, along with his brother Sunmit Singh//Mastana and friend Gurvinder Singh//Da Godfather.
